Nigerian prostitutes arrested in Ghana

Forty-one alleged prostitutes, 99 per cent of whom are Nigerians, have been arrested by the Weija District Police Command in Ghana. They were arrested around a place called Choice, where several drinking joints operate at night, according to Chief Inspector Diana Eninful, who led the operation.

Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a ‘mentally deranged’ couple in possession of various human parts under a Lagos bridge at Cele NICA bus stop, Ojo on the Mile 2 – Badagary expressway. The bust, made by detectives attached to Ijanikin Police Station, caused panic as residents tried to catch a glimpse of the couple whom they claimed were pretending to be mad in order to shield people from knowing that they actually deal on human parts.

21-year-old arrested for murder, cultism in Imo

THE Imo State Police Command on Tuesday paraded a 21-year-old man, Chinasa Oguamanam, for his alleged involvement in armed robbery, murder and cultism. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended by the operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state on August 23. According to Enwerem, the suspect was a member of Vikings confraternity, which had been terrorising a part of the state capital.

Bomb kills five soldiers near border

Five Kenyan soldiers were killed and 10 injured Wednesday when their vehicle hit a landmine on a road in a coastal area close to the Somali border. “Soldiers operating in Lamu County, while on a humanitarian civil assignment to fetch and distribute water to the residents in the area, hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED),” the military said in a statement.

Residents of Kongo Rosha area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday demolished suspected criminal hideouts following a clash on Tuesday that almost led to the burning down of a church in the area. The residents who are Christians and Muslims said their action was aimed at averting religious crisis in the area. The clash on Tuesday between two groups of hoodlums would have led to inter-religious violence but for the prompt intervention of the police.

OSUSTECH post-utme 2018/2019

Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa has commenced its On-line registration for the screening exercise for admission into ALL Programmes in the University for 2018/2019 Session. Candidates should note that provisional admission would be offered on the basis of first come, first served. Eligibility Candidates who made OSUSTECH their first choice of institution and scored 180 and above in the 2018/2019 UTME are eligible for screening. In addition, candidates must possess five (5) ‘O’ Level Credit Passes in relevant subjects including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidates who chose the University as second choice or did not choose it at all are advised to do a change of institution to OSUSTECH as first choice on JAMB website before registering.

Two suspected cultists remanded over alleged possession of firearms

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded two men –Sodiq Oyewunmi and Emeka Ihioma —  in Kirikiri Prisons over alleged possession of firearms. The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, who refused to take the plea of the accused persons, ordered that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecution for advice.
